The background colour used is black which contrasts with all of the writing and the image. This shows that the artist Madonna likes to make a statement and stand out. Red is also used for the title of 'Cash for questions', this colour is assosiated with power which is what Madonna is portraying. Madonna is wearing a lot of silver which connates richness and power.
What I would like to incopperate in my own magazine from this double paged spread is the use of a very dominant image through the use of posture and clothing can attract readers.

This double paged spread is taken from an issue of Kerrang about My chemical romance. Black is used as the background which is a strong colour and is assosiated with the rock/metal music. The title of 'We're being the best MCR we can be' is in a destressted large font in capitals. This therefore captures the readers attention and connoates that the target audience have attitdude and are not perfect. The left page is filled with the image of the front man of the band. All the images on the pages are in black and white. This suggests that the band are mature. They images relate well to the contents and gives the reader and insight into their recording expericance. There is a caption saying 'world exclusive'. This would attract audiences to read the article as they know that its the first one. There is also a review of the new MCR songs, which gives the reader even more information.
What I like about this article is how colour is used to emphasise the beliefs and music of a band.

This double paged spread is taken from an issue of NME. The focus of the article is on the image of Scarlett Johanson which takes up the whole of the right page. She looks shy with her timid pose of pulling her glasses down. This along with her blonde hair and natural make-up give then sense that she is young and innocent. However the black leather jacket which she is wearing and the ray band glasses suggest that she 'Rock and Roll' which is what the article is about. Scarletts head is tilted down and she is very closed in which may suggest that she is timid about entering the music industy and is not yet fully confident. The use of a white background for both pages connotes purity and innocense, which contrasts with the black writing and heading.
The title of 'Rock or Role Queen?' is a play on words so therefore will attract the reader to find out more. As it is an interagative it is making the reader think about their own opinions on the artisit. 'Rock or Role' is all in captials as 'Rock and Roll' is sterotyped as being loud and bold. 'Queen' is in lower case as it is assosiated with being soft and femmine.
What I like about this article is how it uses contrasts about the artist which I think could work effectivly if used in my own magazine. It makes the reader make their own mind up and therefore they will remember the article.
